The Department of Tourism Studies, Indian Academy Degree College celebrated Onam festival-2016, on 30.09.16. The program commenced with invocation song by Mr.Hijas & Mr. Shijo II year MTTM Students , followed by lamp lighting the ceremony by Dr. Devendra .M, HOD Tourism studies and other faculty members, who were gathered for the celebrations.
Onam is a major festival celebrated in the state of Kerala and across the country too. It is the harvest festival which falls during the Malayalam month of Chingam (August-September) and marks the commemoration of home, coming of the king Mahabali.
Tourism students had participated by representing various cultural aspects of the festival .Various events like Thiruvathira, Vanji Pattu, Theme based songs and skits were performed by the students along with fun games and activities. Atlast the program was concluded with national anthem.
