It was our long term wish to offer our little contribution to the deprived people. To fulfill our desire we found an Organization which has a made a mark in the society with the kind of their work. Dr. Priyanka Arora, took initiative and collected Rs.30 from the students of PG Commerce and Rs.80 from each faculty members of the Department, amounting to Rs.5000. The money was utilized to purchase a few utensils required for the inmates.
On Saturday 15th July 2017, as per our schedule we had visited ‘Sumangali Seva Ashrama’, which is located near Hebbal, at about 11:45 am. On our arrival we were greeted by the cute children and the PRO Mrs. Suma. They were so happy and thrilled to see us. Later we had a memorable interaction with one of the directors, Mrs. Jayanthi Hebbar and the PRO. They briefed us on the history and a range of the services of the organization. We presented the gifts to the inmates of the Ashram.
Few facts about ‘Sumangali Seva Ashrama’: S. Susheelamma, a noted humanitarian and philanthropist started the Ashram near Hebbal 40 years ago keeping Rs.15 in the hand. Since then she strived a lot tirelessly to bring the organization to serve particularly women and girl children and have grown over the years receiving recognition from the state and the central governments. The organization had received a bunch of state, national and international awards for their selfless and wholehearted service rendered to the less privileged and downtrodden. The visit had given us a great insight and experience on the ground reality of our society.
